JustRite Friday Challenge #123: Color Inspiration

Sheri asked us to use the colors pink, yellow and purple from her beautiful inspiration photo for the current JustRite Friday Challenge.
I started by stamping Fleuriste Newsprint BG on ivory CS mounted to a purple card and distressing my edges with Antique Linen.  My flower was created with Spellbinders' Bitty Blossoms using crinoline fabric. Recently inspired by Tammy Tutterow's informative blog post, wherein she not only explains what crinoline (aka buckram) is but where to purchase it and links to two beautiful floral projects, I had to try this new-to-me medium. Love combining two of my fav things: paper/fabric. I colored my flower using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist 'Popsicle' and secured with a yellow Copic-colored gem brad and added a pink Copic-colored seam binding bow beneath. My sentiment is stamped using Ooh La La French Frills and a small flower from Botanical Butterflies onto a Spellbinders' oval, also aged with Antique Linen. A few purplish/pinkish gems finish it all off.

JustRite Friday Challenge #122: Card and Envelope Sets

Edited to Add: Having Internet connection issues, so will post w/photos & try to get post written SOON!  ;{

For this FUN challenge @ JustRite, I used a clear butterfly stamp from Botanical Butterflies as my focal image, colored with Copic markers and cut with Spellbinders round die. That image is mounted with foam tape to a frame and shape die from Samantha Walker's Butterfly Corner set. The card's lower edge is die cut using A2 Bracket Borders One which I also used to die cut the top flap on my handmade envelope, made using the WeRMemoryKeepers Envelope Punch Board. I tried to show in my second photo that I added a strip of the yellow CS behind the border die cuts on both card/envelope. I also added a butterfly from Botanical Butterflies stamped in black to the front left corner & flap of my envelope for a little taste of what's inside. My sentiment is from JR's clear set With Gratitude Labels One. NOTE: Check this link, as this all-around set is currently on sale for a great price! '~)
I just love to dress up my envelopes to match my cards and have really enjoyed Darsie's recent fabulous videos @ JustRite highlighting all the gorgeous things you can create when using JustRite's various products and the Envelope Punch Board! Sometimes it helps tremendously to be 'reminded' of the many ways to enhance our creativity and to remember to pull out those products we've purchased and possibly forgotten about.  Thanks, JR, Darsie & Sheri for the helpful nudges!!!  ;~)

JustRite Friday Challenge #111: It's in the Bag

JustRite is challenging us to create a bag (or any sort of gift packaging item) for their last challenge of 2013. I decided to re-purpose a gift box from the mall in shimmery white & gold as I happened to have those papers in my stash.

Simply using some of the box's existing design, I cut gold paper with JustRite's Custom Vintage Labels Four die, added white pearl trim and tied sheer ribbon around the lid before gluing down my die cut.
Atop that I stamped the elaborate frame from Birthday Vintage Labels Four stamp set in Encore Gold Metallic ink on white shimmer paper, added my sentiment from the same set in Memento black ink and die cut with another Labels Four die, centering that vertically over my larger piece.
I tied my two ribbons in bows at the left of center, added white shimmer paper roses (Spellbinders' Bitty Blossoms) edged in Antique Linen Distress Ink and a pearl-adorned gold butterfly (Spellbinders' Les Papillions) to finish off the box top. For the front-closing magnetic edge piece, I paired two Spellbinders' Classic Edge dies and added more pearls.
I think my additions make an already pretty box even more elegant for a lovely lady's special occasion, perhaps a birthday or even a wedding or shower! A fun challenge indeed!

JustRite Friday Challenge #110: Bleach Stamping Technique

JustRite's Friday Challenge was a FUN one this week requiring us to use bleach instead of ink to do our stamping.

I'd not done this in many years but it's a technique I've always liked, partly because its exciting to see what color the bleach will reveal. I used several different CS colors, but this was definitely my FAV, an 'old rose' shade from Stampin' Up, though I don't recall the exact color. I stamped in bleach using JustRite's Fleuriste Newsprint Background Stamp which left me with a cream BG image. I die cut the image with Spellbinders' A2 Matting Basics A largest die, sponged the edge with Black Soot Distress Ink and mounted it to a cream top-fold card. I then re-stamped my BG stamp on cream in black ink, hand cutting the butterfly and oval from the stamp. I added black wire antennae to my butterfly, a hand-colored seam binding double bow, 3 small paper roses and black swirls to complete this simple card.

JustRite Friday Challenge #106: Color Inspiration

Wasn't sure I'd find time this busy week for the JustRite challenge, but I managed in the nick of time to get a card done. Didn't think I even liked it, but my hubby LOVEs it!!!  ;-)  I do think I captured the required colors pretty well?!
I used JustRites' Birthday Vintage Labels Four stamp set, Grand Large Labels die for my purple BG piece, followed by Majestic Labels Twenty-five (green & orange layers) and topped it all off with JustRite's own Vintage Labels Four die cut for my stamped birthday wishes. The elegant BG swirly stamp was stamped in VersaMark & embossed with black embossing powder that contains orange glitter. It doesn't show very well in my photo, but is really striking in person! A2 Bracket Border die cuts in the same orange striped vellum, a big bow and a few purple gems finish it all off.
I know the perfect person to give this card to, who LOVEs purple, always a win-win when you're following a color inspiration challenge!!!  ;-)
EDITED to add:  Still 10 minutes before challenge closes, so I've added a 2nd close-up now of my glittery orange stamp! Okay, 3:54 PM & I'm DONE -- LOL!

JustRite Friday Challenge #105: Autumn Splendor

Decided this AM to create a card for the JustRite Friday Challenge sponsored by Spellbinders that ends at 4 PM today, since I seem to work better under stress -- UGH!

I truly enjoy using the many Spellbinders' dies I'm so lucky to have and wanted to cut and ink up this little Whimsical Tree die for a while now, as well as use the Wrought Iron one I won awhile back from JustRite. I added those into the mix with the Arched Window dies, attempting to make it look as though you're peering out the window, using Spellbinders' Craft Foil for my arch and wrought iron trim. Just a bit trickier to cut/emboss/remove from that intricate die than I'd envisioned, but in the end I think it works?! I  needed some leaves/grass under my tree, so borrowed Sheri's Flower Soft idea. My sentiment and fall leaves (from JustRite's Autumn Words currently on sale for only $4.95!) were stamped with Memento's Potter's Clay and Rhubarb stalk inks and die cut with my newest Spellbinders' die set, Back to Basics Tags.
Go check out all the fabulous entries at JustRite and take a peek at their new challenge going up this Friday, as well as all the great stamps and Spellbinders' dies for sale in their store!

JustRite Friday Challenge #100: Delicate Doilies

I seem to be on a 'yellow' binge with my creativity lately, so I just went with it for JustRite's 100th Challenge -- WOW -- I first took part in Challenge #005 in February 2010 and have rarely missed any since. It's been really fun and hope it continues for a long time!

I decided to make a large half-fold card (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") for this challenge in order to use the entire large oval doily from my stash. Beginning with a white card, I die cut the bottom edge as well as my layer of yellow dot paper with Spellbinders' A2 Bracket Borders One. After attaching my doily, I stamped a border from Celebration Labels One & Bracket Borders One in Moonlight White Brilliance Ink to finish off the bottom detail.

Next, I inked Spellbinders' Floral Oval Die #3 with white ink and embossed it into a black oval -- I LOVE the 'blackboard' look this gave my focal image and border. Lace Medallion Labels stamped in Moonlight White on black CS is where my tiny 'lacy' butterfly originated. He's finished off with wire antennae and three tiny pearls. For my sentiment I combined Grand Sentiments and Celebration Labels stamps on a yellow oval die cut with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and accented both ovals and doily with pearls.

Using Spellbinders' Bitty Blossoms, I cut a white coffee filter and spritzed with Tattered Angels Sunshine Glimmer Mist -- just love the soft color and shimmer (which sadly never shows in photos). My flower and simple seam binding bow finish off my entry for JustRite's monumental 100th Challenge.

JustRite Friday Challenge #099: Sketch

Barely squeezing in a card for the JustRite's Friday Challenge this time, due to my wonderful company -- a real shock I know, that I'm 'late' -- LOL!

I chose Amazing Paper Grace's exclusive JustRite stamps, Filigree Journal Covers and Just the Right Words for my focal image today, stamped in Moonlight Brilliance Pigment Ink on black CS.  I just LOVE this gorgeous stamp and of course the sentiments are perfect with it!  I embossed the outside with Spellbinders' Marvelous Squares.

My papers are Making Memories "Sabrina" line from several years ago, but still a FAV of mine. I embossed silver pearl vellum with Spellbinders Regal EF (Side B) and cut out with a Spellbinders scalloped oval and then used the same vellum for my A2 Bracket Borders One along the bottom. My Snug Hug seam binding was hand colored using Copic Markers and my metal scalloped and pearl brad 'flower' is from Hobby Lobby (brand unknown).

JustRite Friday #098 Challenge: Make it Manly!

A fun one for JustRite's Friday Challenge -- a masculine card. My hubby had shoulder replacement surgery a week ago & I'm FINALLY finding time in my crazy caretaker schedule with the one-armed patient to craft.  He previously had both knees replaced, so this should be a piece of cake for him. I've been telling him a LOT recently, "You're my Hero!" for the grace, humor and generally positive way he handles the adversities in life. Trust me, I'd be grumpy, miserable to deal with, and simply not in a good way IF I had to deal with what he's been through. I think he's more than earned that title and think he'll enjoy waking to find this card to greet him tomorrow!

Premium Labels clear stamp set is perfect for my needs! First I chose a dark blue CS with red flecks to layer onto my white 5" x 7" card. Using Snow Cap Distress paint, I stamped the stars image from JustRite's new clear set Pattern Basics across the top. QuicKutz Stripes EF adds detail along the bottom and a striped ribbon at center.

Next I stamped the "You are the Best" image several times in Memento's Lady Bug and Danube Blue. I used Antique Labels One and Standard Circles Large #'s 2 & 3 to die cut my images before layering with foam dimensionals. Then I stamped "You Are My Hero" onto a Ribbon Banners LG die cut in red and edged it in blue, centering it over my Antique Labels One stack.

Finally, I stamped the "Guaranteed 100% Authentic" image in Stazon Blazing Red (since my preferred blue Stazon pad is dry) onto white shrink plastic, punched a 1/8" hole in the top with my Crop-a-dile and shrunk it with my heat gun. I punched a corresponding tiny hole in the bottom of my Antique Labels One tag and attached the shrinky through it with a jump ring.

I really like the end result! My day got quite crazy and I'm just now able to finally post this in the 'nick' of time! ;~)  Good news is we saw the Dr. and hubby's doing well, so that's all that matters right now!

JustRite Friday Challenge #097: Color Inspiration

Another beautiful color inspiration @ JustRite's Friday Challenge which closes @ 6 PM tomorrow.

For my entry this go-round, I worked with Bo Bunny's 6x6 Gabrielle Collection, which contains the lovely shades of cream, teal and light orange. I was inspired to use my JustRite Ooh La La French Frills stamps and coordinating JustRite Custom dies. I stamped the dress on cream CS in melon berry ink and colored with Cra-Z-Art pencils for a change of pace. My dress form was cut from the Bo Bunny paper too and popped up on a melon beaded circle die cut.

Using two more Bo Bunny layers, I die cut one with Grand Scalloped Circles and partially hand-traced the teal piece with a Grand Circle die in order to better coordinate with the scroll pattern on it. These were attached to my cream 6x6 card base and the corners on the open edge were rounded. I stamped Just for You from JustRite's With Gratitude Labels One onto JustRite Custom Vintage Labels and Banner Dies that coordinate with several of their stamp sets -- LOVE that!

Some 'ombre' large pearls (accidentally sun bleached in my craft room's south window, but one I'm happy occurred!) adorn the scalloped circle and Want2Scrap LeCreme Swirl pearls and hand-dyed seam binding finish off this fun girly card. Appreciate your stopping in today; come back again soon!

JustRite Friday Challenge #096: Sew Good

Our challenge for the JustRite Friday Challenge was to create a card or project featuring sewing elements (stitching, buttons, fabric, etc.), This was a really fun challenge for me with lots of little elements to create!

I chose My Mind's Eye's Howdy Doody 6x6" paper pad to work with. I die cut the bottom decorative CS edge with Spellbinders' A2 Bracket Borders One, adding hand stitching to the edge with a DMC Pearlescent #E818 embroidery thread and then machine stitching with an aqua sewing thread all around my card's edge.

I then die cut and stamped the banner from JustRite's coordinating Buntings and Banners clear stamp & matching die set. Next I die cut several buttons from the same set in white and cream shrink plastic, as well as hand tracing and cutting an embroidery floss holder from my stash. I punched holes in all the items and colored the buttons with my air compressor using Copic markers before shrinking them and the floss holder. The buttons were threaded with cream embroidery thread and I added gold rayon thread to my floss holder and DMC aqua Jewel Effects E3949 thread to a spool charm from my stash.

I tied a bow from measuring tape ribbon and attached my thread holders to it with an aqua baby safety pin. My sentiment is from Becca Feeken's Just the Right Words stamp set -- one of my favs! It is die cut with Spellbinders' Ornate Squares.

My second photo shows a detailed view of the stitching and spool/floss holders.
It was sure fun to make and I'm glad you stopped by for a visit!

JustRite Friday Challene #095: Window of Opportunity

As I went to put away things on my table today, I decided to throw together a quick little masculine card and chose to make it  a window card that fits JustRite's Friday Challenge that ends tomorrow, making it ahead for Father's Day.
(View shot with window partially open; see next photo!)
This very simple card was created using Recollections Kraft Card Stock and JustRite's Premium Labels clear stamps -- a perfect combination for those 'pesky' masculine cards!
The coordinating dies (Vintage Label & Banner Dies) make this so quick and easy -- cut a window and stamp your chosen stamp inside. I then stamped a different round stamp from the set, cut with a Standard Circles Large #2 die, popping it with foam tape atop the original sentiment (which said 'friend' instead of 'Dad'). Next, took a small scrap of corrugated cardboard, sponged on Black Soot Distress Ink and attached to lower edge of card; stamped my sentiment and die cut with a banner die from same custom die set.
(Inside view -- LOVE that guy stamp!)
Finishing touches: colored 4 tiny stars with a Copic, popped those in place, added a black hemp cord (braided for more 'ruggedness'), popped on a button, tied a knot in the end and done. Ready to give way ahead of Father's Day!

Hmmm, maybe I'll make a coordinating envelope too?!  :*~)

JustRite Friday Challenge #94: Sketch

I was sooo excited to finally use JustRite's Scrolled Vine BG stamp, as I've had it for many months. I think it made an elegant background for this black/cream/bright pink birthday card. Following JustRite's Friday Challenge #94 sketch was the perfect starting point!

My scroll background is stamped in Memento Black Tuxedo ink and backed with metallic pink paper on black card. It's topped off with hot pink tulle in the center, followed by two elegant cuts -- the black metallic and center sentiment pieces -- made with my new beloved Spellbinders' Radiant Rectangles. My sentiment is from another favorite -- JustRite's Grand Sentiments. Finishing off my card are several pink gems and a tulle bow. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!

JustRite Friday Challenge #093 - "Suddenly Spring"

For JustRite's Friday Challenge: "Suddenly Spring", I made a pinwheel following directions found here and printing directly onto my October Afternoon's Woodland Park floral paper. Spring to me is beautiful flowers, butterflies, birds singing and building their nests, warm sunshine, children playing (sometimes with pinwheels!) It's my favorite season -- a rebirth/renewal after winter and I happen to have been born in the spring also.
Using a floral image from JustRite's Botanical Butterflies I stamped my pinwheel's center on shrink plastic with Staz-On ink and colored the image with Copics. A drinking straw was wrapped with Washi tape (Target) for my 'handle'. My sentiment is from JustRite's With Gratitude Labels One and the flower was stamped and then cut out with the same stamp used on my shrink plastic 'button', so you can see how much the plastic shrinks!
My card was layered using the following Spellbinders' products:
Imperial M-Bossabilities Folder Side A;
Close-up of JR-stamped shrink plastic button
Standard Circle Dies (pink layer; shrink plastic);
Butterfly Circles (white coffee filter);
Petite Scalloped Circles Large (turquoise layer); and Ribbon Banners (sentiment).

JustRite Friday Challenge #092: Make It Pop! and Cards Blog Challenge: March, 2013

I'm doing something unusual for me and entering this card in two challenges: Cards Blog (Color Challenge) and JustRite's Friday Challenge #092: Make It Pop!, requiring we use foam dimensional adhesives and make a birthday card -- how simple and perfect, since I'm sure most of us rarely do a project without dimensionals and we ALWAYS need another birthday card in our stash.
I wanted to use Spellbinders' A2 Bracket Borders One that I'd just purchased and I liked the spring colors on the Cards Blog Challenge (shown below). The only DP I had on hand that had all three colors was this mini print, but I knew it would be perfect with the iris stamp from JustRite's Botanical Medallions & Banners. I Copic colored it in shades of lavender and die cut with Labels Seventeen. My sentiment (JR's Forever Friends) was die cut with Labels Four and my small yellow butterfly from Samantha Walker's Butterfly Corner and both adorned with Copic-colored small gems. I just love the edges these new border dies create, don't you? Dimensionals were used for my main focal image, my sentiment and a tiny strip under my butterfly. Thanks for popping by today!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge #091: Color Challenge

This is my project for JustRite's Friday color challenge -- a gift basket and matching card for a birthday. I thought the colors of grey and yellow were perfect for just coming out of winter and entering spring.  In fact, we have some yellow poppies popping up in the desert already -- YAY!!!

I followed Becca Feeken's tutorial (found here) for the front of my basket and my card. I used one of my FAV JustRite clear polymer sets (Botanical Medallions & Banners) for my project, with the exception of my birthday tag, which uses Forever Friends cling. Dies used today are JustRite's Antique Labels One for card and tag and Spellbinders' Scalloped Edge Frame for the woven pieces and Classic Scalloped Circles Small for my decorative edges on the basket's flaps. I previously made this as an Easter basket and a gift basket (here and here) if you care to see them. Here is a close-up of the three ribbons that I braided to cover my basket's handle.

JustRite Friday Challenge #089: Anything Goes!

For JustRite's current challenge - anything goes, which means you may use your Favorite JustRite stamp and then tell everyone why it's a fav -- simple/fun/easy, huh?!!!  Yes -- except for picking a fav, that is -- Hee!

This card was created with a fairly new-to-me stamp set (Ooh La La French Frills) for a friend who's 'nickname' is "Sassy" and her favorite color is (obviously) blue!  I'd not had a chance to use this set until now.  It's a fav because it perfectly fit the bill for what I needed and wanted to do for her birthday card this year!

I used the matching Spellbinders' dies here, as well as Samantha Walker's Twisted Metal Tags and Accents' die to back my sentiment. After die cutting the dress form and insert, I stamped the sentiment and insert with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink and colored the flowers/leaves of the dress with Copic markers. Spellbinders' Card Creator A2 Polka Dots die creates the backdrop and finishing my card off is a tiny bow and Want2Scrap's gem flourish colored with B29 Copic marker.

JustRite Friday Challenge #088: Sketch

Hard to believe Valentine's Day is sooo close, so I need to get started on my cards for this upcoming holiday and couldn't think of a better way than to create a card following the current JustRite Papercrafts Friday Challenge sketch!

Starting with Spellbinders' Nested Hearts, cut/embossed from Vintage Cream CS, I stamped JustRite's Lace Medallion Labels "Vintage Love" sentiment, as well as a heart flourish beneath from JustRite's Forever Friends cling set and distressed it with Antique Linen Ink. I also cut cupid and his bow/arrow from a Lifestyle Crafts die.

My BG paper from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found: Union Square was further embellished with a strip of cream crepe paper and striped CS from my MME paper pad for banners down the left side. Across the top I added ruffled ribbon from Making Memories, my cupid and a heart stick pin and completed this Valentine with Want2Scrap black rhinestone flourishes on both lower edges of my heart sentiment centerpiece. Thanks for looking!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge #087: Picture This!

The challenge @ JustRite Papercraft through 6 PM CST tomorrow is to use a photo in your project. This could be a holiday photo card, mini book, ornament, or layout. The best part of this challenge may be the PRIZES -- Spellbinders' dies -- 2 for the Grand Prize winner and 1 for each of 3 Honorable Mention winners and the Random winner will receive a JustRite stamp. So if you have a chance, come join the fun!!!

My project includes a photo of my DD and their beloved rescue dog taken by her fiance'.  I thought she'd like to have it framed for him to enjoy on his desk while working. I die cut/embossed aqua Bazzill CS with Spellbinders' Romantic Rectangles, glued down my photo and slipped it into the top right corner of my clear acrylic frame. I love that you can see through the pretty edging of the Romantic Rectangles!
I measured the remaining space on the left and bottom and cut a piece of October Afternoon's Woodland Park DP in colors that coordinate with my photo to fill in the frame.

Next I stamped what I think is a perfect sentiment from Wedding Nested Sentiments (retired JustRite original set) in aqua ink on cream CS. It was die cut/embossed with Spellbinders' Polka Dot Frame, using only the inside cut-out from the smallest frame. A small glittery heart from my stash was added and foam dots to pop it out from my frame for dimension. Finishing it all off are black rhinestone finesse swirls from Want2Scrap. I think this will make a nice little gift for DD's fiance' and if they want, they can easily change out the photo.
