My Sheri Crafts Challenge #135: Three in a Row

Our latest challenge @ My Sheri Crafts is Three in a Row (aka Tic-Tac-Toe) and simply means you choose any 3 in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row from the chart provided below to complete your project,

My simple card today uses embossed paper, pearls and flowers, so you can easily see that I used the 3rd vertical row to complete my card. I chose some Basic Grey rub-ons from my stash that I've had for many years, using the large one in the center of my Spellbinders Labels Thirty embossed BG. I also added the lady bug and sentiment rub-ons. Finishing off my card is a small bow, flowers, a pearl swirl and a few single pearls from my stash.

We're looking forward to seeing your Three in a Row creations!

Valentine: Lace, Pearls & a Smitten Rub-On

My Valentine supplies are basically all over my craft room & in going through them I re-discovered this unfinished card from last year. Simply cut from the largest Spellbinders' Plain Heart Die, placed just off the fold on the lower left so it will open, I just love the feminine lace, pearls and K & Company floral heart rub-on. I'm sure I based this on something I saw on a blog, but sadly I have no idea now who to credit. To give it a nicely finished look, I cut another single large heart and used 1/4" Score Tape to cover the lace on the back side. Once I decide who it's going to, I'll add my inside sentiment. Do you usually do that at a later time? I almost never finish the inside until I know who I'll send my card to.

Happy 50th Birthday!!!

Our friend/neighbor, Elaine, is 50!!! Woo-Hoo!!! She's a lot of fun and we'll be celebrating the big event with her. Her favorite color is purple, so this cardstock should qualify!!! I really had a difficult time finding purple when I went shopping; lighter shades & lots of shades of plums, but "purple purple" proved difficult.
Paper: Bazzill & Bazzill Bling Cardstocks
Embellishments: Fiskars' Expoxy "petals" (from Walgreens - Elaine's employer!), rub-on, ribbon from stash
Tools: Stampin'Up Scallop Punch; Darice 1/16" Hole Punch

Recycled Flowers Birthday Card

My mother-in-law will be 92 this month and although her card is fairly simple-looking on the outside, the inside holds a special surprise for her! Still a very capable seamstress, her last letter arrived with a bit of fabric taped to the outside of the envelope flap. After sealing it, she realized she'd forgotten to include the fabric swatch from a new dress she'd just sewn. Amazingly it got to us! It occured to me to use fabric stiffener & then punch flowers from the swatch & include them in her bday card. Amazingly, designer Lauren Meader posted the perfect way for me to use them here in her July 31st post, Paper Garden Spring Out Card. So thanks to Lauren, my card idea was sealed! I hope my Mother-in-law enjoys seeing these fabric flowers as much as I enjoyed recycling her little fabric remnant! I'm just sorry I won't be able to see her face when she opens it!!!

Distressed Scalloped Daisy Card

Sadly, I'm not one of those lucky people who sees a card design in their head and proceeds from there. Instead I start with an idea, a sketch or an embellishment I want to use and then things usually change many times before I'm finished. This card evolved from a sketch my friends Ilene & Deva had done. I'm not very talented at distressing, but I'm trying. . . .

Passion for Paisley

Ever have one of those times when NOTHING goes right creatively? Gosh, I didn't even think I had a creative gene left after this weekend. I was trying to do some challenges & failed miserably. When I checked today for the new weekly challenge @ http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/, I just laughed! I'd struggled with this card, torn it apart repeatedly & nearly threw it in the trash several times only to discover it now actually fits this week's challenge! So put your sunglasses on & click on the photo to enlarge, if you dare!!! ;-) I see my SBS8 Sister Han actually won last week's prize - congrats, Han! Her blog is here: http://hanscraftycreations.blogspot.com/. Enjoy!!!

Another Father's Day Card for Heroes

Another quick, simple Dad's Day card from the DP I used yesterday. I really like this paper & think it's manly, but had trouble finding papers to match up with it. Would have liked more layers here, but not having much luck finding the right shades to do that. You'd think I don't have a lot of paper, but that's kind of like saying I don't have a lot of ribbon. . . !
