JustRite Friday Challenge #076: Stars & Stripes

For the current JustRite Friday Challenge -- "Stars & Stripes" - create a project with stripes and use at least one star -- I immediately knew what I wanted to make for a male family member! You may think only of a patriotic theme but we are not limited to red, white & blue for this challenge, so just have FUN, whatever colors you decide to use!

I'm hoping to find time to do yet another non-patriotic challenge card, but this one is very patriotic, using papers from Bo Bunny's Liberty 6x6" pad. I first cut and embossed the largest star die shape with Spellbinders Stars Five from the center of my paper; then re-cut that star with the next smaller die. I then cut the largest star again from the pad's blue solid paper. Both stars were layered, stamped with Best Wishes from JustRite's Clear Spring Words and attached to the inside through my original die cut. I love the depth this gives. Five tiny clear Recollections stars below my sentiment add just a touch of bling.
Fussy cut eagle

Next, my eagle was fussy cut from a second sheet of the BG paper, edged with Antique Linen distress ink and added with foam tape for extra dimension. To complete the bottom edge, I stamped the 'patriotic bunting' border from JustRite's Lace Borders Cling set on vellum with white ink and colored with Copics R29 and B29 on the back of the vellum. Finishing off the card is a Jolee's Boutique red/white/blue striped ribbon.
JustRite Border @ bottom edge

Inside of card

Hopefully this card qualifies as 'masculine' in the eyes of my recipient, whose home in the country includes a large American flag flying proudly in his front yard, along with mainly red/white/blue patriotic decor inside. Maybe he'll add this card into it somewhere?! Regardless, I totally enjoyed creating it for him and that's what matters most -- so grab some JustRite stamps and let me see your Stars & Stripes creation!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge #67: Birthday Bash

The current challenge at JustRite Stampers is to create a Birthday card -- pretty simple, huh? I created a spring birthday card in pinks/greens using paper I've had in my stash for a long time!
I was thrilled to have the new JR Spring Words and With Sympathy clear stamps I won on the last challenge to help me create today. I just LOVE this sentiment and think it will work well for masculine birthdays also! I added a little decorative element from the Sympathy set below to compliment it and tie in my colors. Also LOVE Spellbinders' Edgeabilities and used those for my edging detail along with some decorative trim. Hand-colored crinkled seam binding and a pearl flourish complete this one.

Stamps:  JR's Spring Words and With Sympathy
Inks: VersaColor Opera Pink & Memento Pear Tart
Paper: Basic Grey's Sultry; PTI's White & Ripe Avocado CS
Embellishments: Want2Scrap Pearl/Flourish; Hobby Lobby trim; Hug Snug Winter White Seam Binding (colored with Copics)

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #70 - Think Pink

Copic Markers Used: E000, E32, E33, R00, R20, B00
This lady (Hero Arts - retired stamp) is all dressed up for My Sheri Crafts Challenge and thinking pink to raise Breast Cancer Awareness. I've had her since 2002 when I took a class taught by a lovely lady at my local LSS which was then less than a mile from my house. I've since moved away and the store closed long ago, sadly. I still LOVE these awesome ladies in hats stamps which are mightily stained from much use. Gosh, that was five years before I even thought of blogging!
Today I stamped her in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on white CS, die cut with Spellbinders' Big Scalloped Oval, colored her with Copic Markers and used a Sakura glitter pen to highlight her earrings. Her paper-pieced hat and collar were cut from pink suede paper, 1/8" pale pink ribbon was used for her hat band and the Breast Cancer symbol on her left shoulder. She's attached to a side-folded 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white card embossed with Sizzix EF and my "HOPE" sentiment is made using JustRite 50pt. Curlz alphabet stamps onto a retired Spellbinders' tag die cut, tied on with the 1/8" ribbon along the card's folded edge.
Thankfully, beautiful weather is expected here tomorrow for the Phoenix Race for the Cure!

JustRite Friday Challenge 056: Shaped Holiday Card or Tag

With 116-degree record-setting heat today in the desert, I chose white & silver for my Christmas card for the returning JustRite Friday Challenge. YAY!!! I'm very happy with the result and almost felt cool while working on it! Regardless, it's wonderful to have another holiday card for my stash.
This one features JustRite's Vintage Christmas ornaments stamped on pearl vellum, embossed in silver and framed using Spellbinders' Labels Sixteen. My frame is cut from Papertrey Ink's Shimmer CS, stamped with a Vintage Christmas border, silver embossed and mounted with foam dots to a silver CS layer die cut from Label Twenty-One's largest die. I traced that same die onto Shimmer CS and a folded grey card from my stash, cut around both by hand and mounted the main image with foam dots.
I used JustRite's 25-pt. Times New Roman alphabet for my sentiment, die cut with a Spellbinders' Grommet Tag.  Accents include narrow silver ribbon from my stash tied into a bow on the left to secure my sentiment tag and Recollections rhinestones.
I appreciate your stopping by today and hope you're keeping cool wherever you are!!!

Flourish Happy Birthday Card by Lifestyle Crafts

I thought it would be fun to cover myself and my studio in glitter -- LOL -- so I die cut this Lifestyle Crafts (formerly QuicKutz) Flourish die from double-sided adhesive, arranged them and pressed them onto my card front. I then covered the flourishes with Martha Stewart's Tourmaline glitter. It truly does "get everywhere", but it's sooo BEAUTIFUL!
I kept the rest pretty simple so my glittered flourishes could take center stage and simply stamped my Papertrey Ink sentiment in PTI's Raspberry Fizz ink on another die cut (from the Lifestyle Crafts A2 Collection shown on my April 2nd post). I then took a Stampin' Up punch to each edge, threaded my May Arts sheer pink ribbon through, tied a bow and rounded the corners.
Other than glitter clean-up time, a quick, sparkly birthday card for my stash! Hope you're having a lovely & crafty day today!!!
Both these dies and many May Arts ribbons are available at Creating Everlasting Memories EBay store so be sure to check those out, as well as our DT Blog at Creating Memories in Time, where you can play along for our monthly Blog Candy!

Celebrate Card: My Mind'e Eye Style

My Mind's Eye Lush (Blue) DP
This is the first card I've made using the Lush line of designer paper in blue  by My Mind's Eye  -- it's totally "luscious"!  :~)  My 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card uses three of the gorgeous patterned papers from this line, as well as a brad and velvet scalloped ribbon.
Cream CS from my stash is first covered with Blue Diamonds double-sided DP and then topped in the center with velvet Polka Dot DP. Two large Prima Flowers at the top left are embellished with a large My Mind's Eye "Lush" brad and sit atop my Celebrate sentiment.
Across the bottom I cut the reverse side of the Blue Damask DP with the scalloped QuicKutz/Lifestyle Crafts Journaling Die (#REV-0226-D), tucked it underneath cream lace from my stash, then topped with MME's velvet scalloped ribbon and finished at the right side with another Prima Flower. All DPs and flowers were antiqued with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink.
I colored my clear flower-shaped stick pin (Making Memories) with Copic BG11, added beads and stuck it through my ribbon and flower. Finally, a pearl from my stash was threaded with embroidery floss for stamens and attached with a glue dot to complete my card.
Check out Creating Everlasting Memories for great bargains on the following products:  My Mind's Eye; QuicKutz/Lifestyle Crafts; Tim Holtz, Prima Marketing, as well as many others!!! Hope you're having a wonderful, crafty day today wherever you are!!!

My Favorite Papertrey Ink Project from the Past Year

NOTE: This originally posted on August 27, 2010, but is re-posted here today for the UNBELIEVABLY HUGE giveaway being sponsored by Nichole Heady at Papertrey Ink in celebration of her Fourth Anniversary this month. Be sure to go check it out by clicking on the above link. Good Luck!!!

Sheri's
challenge this week: create a 'Missing You' project. I chose "It's Been Too Long" from Everyday Button Bits stamp set, adding a little swirly image from Vintage Labels above and below my sentiment and tiny Kaiser Craft chocolate pearls. Stamps are all from Papertrey Ink.
I just LOVE this paisley print in russet browns, peony pinks and spring greens from Basic Grey's Sultry paper pad. My sentiment frame is die cut with Spellbinders' Ribbon Tags Trio Two. For accent I then embossed the die again and hand cut the outermost edge before lacing my sheer brown ribbon through both. I cut a strip of pale pink paper from the pad, misted it with water and embossed it with Spellbinders' Paisley Impressabilities. My paisley print and  brown papers were then both edge punched with Fiskars' Upper Crest punch.
Have a great day and I sincerely appreciate your taking time to come here!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #25: Breast Cancer Awareness

I'd always intended to make one of these bra cards from years ago, so My Sheri Crafts Challenge to create a card for Breast Cancer Awareness this week was perfect! The bra cups are die cut from Spellbinders' scalloped circle dies, then folded in half and a portion snipped off each end to achieve the matching center of your bra. Ribbon is used both for straps, for an accent at the bra's center and on my sentiment tag.
Paper: Flower-embossed Handmade paper from stash; PTI's Smokey Shadow & White CS
Stamps: JustRite's 25-pt. TNR Font
Ink: PTI's Charcoal
Embellishments: Grosgrain Ribbon, pearlsm rub-0n from stash
Tools: Cuttlebug Emboss Plus 5 x 7 Embossed Tags; Spellbinders' Petite Scallop Circles

Aspiring to Creativity Glimmer Challenge 2: Photo Inspiration

For our 2nd Aspiring to Creativity challenge we were given a sweet photo for inspiration, plus were required to use a tool or supply we'd never used before. I used the "dots" repeatedly in my card, including both Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots and their new Polka Dots embossing folders, as well as the holes I punched along the edge of my Cuttlebug die-cut butterfly. More holes appear along the Scallop 3-dot border and in my lace tag, both from Martha Stewart. Papers used are Core'dinations' Color Core and PTI's SS White, along with PTI's Raspberry Fizz felt for my butterfly and Making Memories ribbon. My never-before used supply are the 3 Green Glitter brads by Creative Imaginations that have been in my stash for over 2 years now! This was a fun challenge; thanks for stopping by my little blog for a visit today!

JustRite Friday Challenge 031: Back to School and My Sheri Crafts Challenge #17

I recently came across this idea on SCS where they used salt/pepper shakers from the $1 store to make pretty, but inexpensive decorative gifts. I decorated mine to celebrate "life long learning" using my JRS Just a Note Borders & Centers and 15-pt. TNR stamp sets. Blue Bazzill Bling paper, Encore Ultimate Metallic Blue Ink embossed with clear EP, Spellbinders' Stars dies and lots of sparkly stars and silver/glittery ribbon swirls finish off my gift and matching card.
Edited to Add: I always link to challenges to make it easy for you & I forgot to do that. They are: My Sheri Crafts and JustRite Inspiration, so now you can go check both of them out!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge 029: Sketch

For this week's JustRite Friday challenge I used Core'dinations' Black Magic and Papertrey Ink's Hibiscus Burst cardstock. Using the largest Spellbinders' die from Fair Isle Pendants, I framed my JR Appliqué Decorative Border
and sentiment from Just a Note Borders & Centers. Next I cut the border from Fair Isle, sanded both die cuts and accented them & my framed sentiment with Fruit Punch and Black Diamond Stickles. The BG is embossed with Provo Craft's new Polka Dots embossing folder on Papertrey Ink's Hibiscus Burst CS. Finishing this all off, I backed the dies with black satin ribbon and added a large bow. Once again today, I had to fight long and hard to find my creativity, so I appreciate your popping in!

Friendship Card

I wanted to create a friend card for My Sheri Crafts' challenge this week, so decided to use my GCD Studios' Margarita collection papers & tags. I stamped Papertrey Ink's "Friends 'Til the End" sentiment on the die-cut orange tag. I then took Spellbinders' Long Scalloped Rectangles and chose the die just wider than my tag. Because I wanted it to use it to back my tag, I first cut it just short of the tag length, then ran it back through my Wizard & cut the bottom edge of my white CS so that I had just the length needed. I added two flowers cut from a sheet of matching GCD paper, added the Making Memories' blue gemstone brads and pop-dotted them onto my tag for to give my card depth. A layer of purple paper and a soft white silk narrow Papertrey ribbon finishes my Friend card off!

PTI's 2009 Holiday Tag Collection: Mistletoe

A quick/easy little Christmas card using Papertrey Ink's 2009 Holiday Tag Collection's mistletoe tag stamped in Palette True Black on PTI's White CS and cut/embossed with a Spellbinders' circle die. Ranger's White Opal Liquid Pearls highlight the berries and the tag is backed with Bazzill's Emerald City Bling CS punched with Paper Shapers 2" Scalloped Circle. I used Copic YG67 to color the leaves and my (formerly white) ribbon, which matches the scalloped circle IRL, though not in my photo. My background is black suede paper run through the Wizard with my Cuttlebug Dotted Swiss embossing folder. That's it -- hope your Holiday cardmaking and giftmaking are going well for all of you!!!

Scattered Showers Umbrella Card 1

Wishing you sunshine, wherever you may be this 4th of July Holiday!!! My sweet friend, Gwen, loaned me some of her fabulous PTI stamp sets to play with. The Labels Two & Ribbon Tags dies used here are my own, however. Because I've loved this stamp set since it debuted, I'm having so much fun playing with it -- so back to the craft table!!!
