My Sheri Crafts Challenge #149: Valentine's Day

For our challenge: Valentine's Day "include a heart" starting today @ My Sheri Crafts my card began with a piece of designer paper from Pink Paislee's Secret Crush 6x6" paper pack.

To my DP I added the required heart as my focal image die cut from Lace Hearts by Samantha Walker for Spellbinders. Topping off my hearts is the key from this same die set tied on with a silver cord bow.

Next I stamped February in Papertrey Ink's Pure Poppy using Winter Words and date using Autumn Words, both clear stamp sets by JustRite onto an edge piece cut from my DP and backed by red to make it pop.  A couple of extra hearts and a lattice border from Spellbinders' A2 Bracket Borders One completes this card.

Thanks for your comments and I look forward to seeing your heart creations over @ My Sheri Crafts! ;)

JustRite Friday Challenge #113: In the Background

The challenge ending @ JustRite in a couple hours is to use a background stamp or any JustRite stamps to create your own custom designer paper. One of my favorites is using VersaMark ink on your stamp to create a subtle tone-on-tone background as I did today for this Happy Valentine's Day card. Thank so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Winter Words (retired);  Botanical Medallions & Banners

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #103: Valentines

For our challenge this week @ My Sheri Crafts, we're asked to "show some love to the ones you love"!  I chose to make a simple Valentine's Day card.

I cut a strip of Martha Stewart Designer Paper (Enchanted Woodland Mat Pad) just slightly smaller than my A2 card and using Spellbinders' Classic Scalloped Hearts, I made a partial die cut into the top of the DP with the lower part of the heart die. I then punched the top edge of that same DP with a Fiskar's scallop punch and attached it to my card's lower edge. Using the reverse side of the same DP remnant, I die cut my scalloped heart and attached it with pop dots into the cut-out of my card's border. The 'Will you be my Valentine?' sentiment (Studio G) was stamped in Memento's Rose Bud ink onto a snippet of cream CS, edged with Worn Lipstick distress ink and cut into an arrow shape. Finishing the card off is a single strip of the same 'mesh' as used in my MSC #100 post here.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit my fellow DT members posts too and then get busy creating a project to share @ My Sheri Crafts that "shows some love to the ones you love"!  ;~)

JustRite Friday Challenge #088: Sketch

Hard to believe Valentine's Day is sooo close, so I need to get started on my cards for this upcoming holiday and couldn't think of a better way than to create a card following the current JustRite Papercrafts Friday Challenge sketch!

Starting with Spellbinders' Nested Hearts, cut/embossed from Vintage Cream CS, I stamped JustRite's Lace Medallion Labels "Vintage Love" sentiment, as well as a heart flourish beneath from JustRite's Forever Friends cling set and distressed it with Antique Linen Ink. I also cut cupid and his bow/arrow from a Lifestyle Crafts die.

My BG paper from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found: Union Square was further embellished with a strip of cream crepe paper and striped CS from my MME paper pad for banners down the left side. Across the top I added ruffled ribbon from Making Memories, my cupid and a heart stick pin and completed this Valentine with Want2Scrap black rhinestone flourishes on both lower edges of my heart sentiment centerpiece. Thanks for looking!!!

Papertrey & Pinterest: Masculine Valentine Card

Front of Card
My Papertrey challenge inspiration came from the adorable birdie card created by Heather Nichols shown below, which I found here (3rd from left) on Pinterest. It's a FAV place of mine to hang out & peruse the unbelievable inspiration!
I wanted to create a masculine Valentine card and I'm not one who can use any pink or frilly items on my guy cards! I think this will fit the bill perfectly since it's for a close family member.
Inside of Card
I've used Papertrey's Kraft, True Black & Pure Poppy CS; Bitty Box Basics Smokey Shadow DP; and "Forever" from Everyday Classics stamp set.
Other products include red twill tape, black button and black twine from my stash, as well as JustRite Alpha stamps on the inside to complete my sentiment, and Spellbinders' Nested heart die.

Papertrey Ink: Color Challenge

Papertrey Ink's Fifth Anniversary celebration continues today with a Color Challenge. Using DT member Danielle Flanders' fav color combo shown below:

my card includes PTI's Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise CS and Pure Poppy Ink, as well as Vintage Labels, Sweet Love and Heartfelt Basics stamp sets. My DP is Martha Stewart's Enchanted Woodland and the ribbon is from my stash.

The fun continues right through Papertrey's February release on the 15th, so I hope to have a chance to enter another challenge or two!  The hour is late, my brain is tired, so I'm keeping this 'short & sweet', but I always sooo appreciate your coming by!  ;~)

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #78: Love is in the Air!

This week our My Sheri Crafts Challenge is: Love is in the Air! We want to see TWO Hearts on your project, as not only is Valentine's Day fast approaching, but February is also Heart Month -- pretty fitting, huh?! What better reason to whip up a few creations in your favorite colors and join us at MSC?!
For my card, I chose to work with Spellbinders' Nested Hearts, Heart Circles and Elegant Posts dies, as well as their silver craft foil. I'd forgotten it's rather difficult to photograph the shiny craft foil, as well as the detail embossing on my beautiful velvet paper. Hopefully if you click on the photo it will show better. Otherwise, you'll just have to trust me that it's pretty IRL -- LOL! Did you notice that 'heart' shape in the Elegant Post die? Just love that little element!
My sentiment is from Paptrey Ink's Mixed Messages, the gemstone heart and silver pearls are from my stash and a Fiskars' border punch was used along the bottom.
Now we'd LOVE to have you share the love with us at My Sheri Crafts by uploading your creation too!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge 047: Love is in the Air!

Love is in the Air is the theme for the current JustRite Stampers' Challenge, so with Valentine's quickly approaching, I used a wonderful sentiment stamp from JustRite's Romantic Sentiments Set for my entry! "You Hold the Key to my Heart" is stamped in PTI's Raspberry Fizz ink on Spellbinders' Nested Heart die cut from PTI's Vintage Cream and embossed with Antique Linen. I've always LOVED this DP from Basic Grey's Bittersweet line, so paired it here with PTI's Raspberry Fizz CS and metallic Vellum punched with Martha Stewart's sweet Doily Hearts border punch. My key is cut from Spellbinders' Timeless Heritage set in gold foil and accented with a heart bead and seed beads. Lastly, I added cream lace and sequin trim to finish off this Love card!

Papertrey Ink January 2011 Blog Hop "Wannabe" Sweet Love Valentine

Had I had a chance to participate yesterday this would have been my Papertrey Ink card for their January Blog Hop, but family came first and my card is "a day late and a dollar short", as my sweet Mother used to say -- Sigh!!! I really enjoyed pulling out this little used PTI Sweet Love set and inking it up. You can't go wrong with Raspberry Fizz and black, so I simply stamped the swirly BG and sentiment in True Black ink, added 2 heart-shaped Amuse twinkles colored with Copic RV19 to a vellum Mat Stack 1 die cut. Then my centerpiece was added to a silver doily from my stash and mounted front & center over black velvet ribbon!

JustRite Friday Challenge 046 #2: Technique - Scoring!

Spring Card

This "spring" card design is one I found about three years ago at Splitcoast Stampers here. I thought it was unique enough to qualify for the "scoring" technique required for JustRite's current challenge. My card measures 4 inches square when folded flat because I used paper from Martha Stewart's 4" x 11" Valentine's Punch Pad.

I had wanted to die cut this largest Spellbinder's Nested Heart in Shrink Plastic ever since I got them and I was quite happy with how it turned out. My sentiment was created with JustRite Myriad Font Pro 50 point stamped with Stazon Jet Black ink. The die cut measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and shrank to about 1 3/4" x 1 3/4". If you want yours to be a charm, don't forget to punch a large hole at the top and use a large font for your sentiment, as those will both shrink proportionately also! Because different brands shrink differently, check your package instructions.
Card shown folded flat

I added the Spellbinder's Eyelet Square die to the front of my card, laced a narrow flat fiber through some beads and then through the top eyelet and tied a knot. I enjoyed just playing with some products I'd had for a while and hope you'll check out this fun "spring" card and try one yourself!

Edited to Add: I used Frosted Ruff N' Ready shrink plastic and Copic R46 to color my heart die cut before stamping my sentiment. Also, I use my embossing heat gun to shrink my items, not my oven!

Thanks for visiting!

JustRite Friday Challenge 046: Technique - Scoring!

The first JustRite Friday Challenge for 2011 is sponsored by Scor-Pal and is to use scoring on your card (other than for the card's fold)! Using a 1" strip cut from an old book page, I scored every 1/4" and then secured the ends of my long strip, forming a circular BG embellishment for my sentiment from JustRite's Romantic Sentiments. I then die-cut my SB's Inverted Circle from my striped CS and added scoring between the black lines for more accent, plus a narrow scored book-page strip along the bottom edge. Unfortunately, I don't own the Scor-Pal, because it would have been much faster/easier to score the book page strips without having to move them to score every 1/4"!
Paper: DCWV Striped Black and Cream CS (All Dressed Up stack); black, cream CS (from stash); old book page
Stamps: JustRite Romantic Sentiments Set
Ink: Memento's Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick Distress Ink
Embellishments: Martha Stewart Ribbon; A'Muse Twinkle Stickers
Tools: Spellbinders' Wizard and Inverted Circle Die; Copic R35 (to color clear heart gem)

Happy 2011 and welcome to my Monday Card Corner for our Creating Memories in Time blog! Designer papers used today are My Mind's Eye's "Love Nest", edge distressed with Tim Holtz "Antique Linen" ink. ZVA Creative pearls in a soft shade of pink were added atop my cream lace. This card was really fun to make and I LOVE how these dies worked perfectly for the look I was going for! This card fits a regular business envelope.

CPS Sketch 153: Cherish You, Valentine!

My entry for the CPS Sketch #153 Challenge sponsored by PTI is a masculine Valentine for a very special guy in my life! When I got my first Core'dinations Black Magic CS, I knew I wanted to use some masculine colors with my Tartan Cuttlebug folder for a male relative's Valentine and it just couldn't have any hint of pink or red or ribbon of any kind. Here's my embossed & sanded result -- hope he likes it!!!

Another Smitten Valentine

Look somewhat familiar??? Liked the Page Maps sketch so much that I went ahead and made a second Valentine nearly identical to my previous Cardvaarks' challenge entry! Do you ever do that? This card features a Spellbinders' scalloped heart die cut in place of the circle topped by a Smitten die cut that included the glittery sentiment. Love the colors in these papers and this fabulous sketch!

Simple One-Layer Valentine with Cuttlebug & Core'dinations

I recently won 2 generous packs of Core'dinations papers (thanks again, Maggie!), which I've always been curious about! One pack includes Whitewash and Black Magic papers. The colors cores are either whitewashed or covered in black so that when you emboss, sand, tear or antique it, the color core shows beautifully through. I chose a whitewashed pink to emboss with my new Cuttlebug Flourished Frame folder, then lightly sanded the embossing. It gave such a soft, subtle look that I decided to keep it soft and simple, stamping my swirly heart and sentiment, and just sprinkling a few pearls for a little extra glam. So fun to play with new product!!!
Paper: Core'dinations WhiteWash Collection CS
Stamps: PTI's Sweet Love & Mixed Messages
Ink: PTI's Charcoal ; pink (source unknown)

Caardvarks Challenge Card: Smitten Stitched Valentine

Whipped up this little Valentine card today for the current Cardvaarks Challenge sponsored by JustRite Stampers for this sketch presented by Page Maps. I used my lovely K & Company "Smitten" papers and my one & only JustRite Stamper. To accent the white in my patterned paper, I backed my die-cut heart with a white scalloped circle containing my JustRite sentiment, as well as white machine stitching for the vertical lines in the sketch. I like how it all came together -- a really fun sketch to work with!

Valentine: Lace, Pearls & a Smitten Rub-On

My Valentine supplies are basically all over my craft room & in going through them I re-discovered this unfinished card from last year. Simply cut from the largest Spellbinders' Plain Heart Die, placed just off the fold on the lower left so it will open, I just love the feminine lace, pearls and K & Company floral heart rub-on. I'm sure I based this on something I saw on a blog, but sadly I have no idea now who to credit. To give it a nicely finished look, I cut another single large heart and used 1/4" Score Tape to cover the lace on the back side. Once I decide who it's going to, I'll add my inside sentiment. Do you usually do that at a later time? I almost never finish the inside until I know who I'll send my card to.
Paper: PTI's Raspberry Fizz CS

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #51: Smitten Valentine

Trying to get my creative mojo "mojoing", so after seeing Gwen's ADORABLE post for Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #51 and the DT posts, I decided I needed to just follow the sketch quite literally. Maybe my mojo will just magically reappear if I quit trying so hard! Besides, it's definitely NOT another Vintage Ornaments Christmas card -- LOL! I'm trying also to use up papers and embellishments I've had forever. Used Spellbinders' scalloped heart dies on my die cuts to make them smaller and added distress ink to "perk up" my lace trim. I'm quite happy with the result!

Stamp: Stampendous' Spring Swirls set
Ink: Ranger/Tim Holtz Tattered Rose & Worn Lipstick Distress Inks
Embellishments: Lace (from stash)
