JustRite's Friday Challenge #073: Anything But Square

Summertime is my time to catch up, since we're usually inside avoiding the desert heat, so I'm hoping to create/post more. One thing that I've wanted to do for a long while is the creation I'm sharing today and posting for JustRite's current challenge -- "Anything But Square". As you can see by my photo below, this card started out as elegant, lacy embossed-edge teapot stationery with matching envelope given to me by our dear friend/former neighbor, whom I'm hoping doesn't see this before I'm able to give her her card in person. Regardless, hope she likes my effort.
I cut her beautiful stationery sheet in half using Spellbinders' Grand Labels Four, as well as my Vintage Cream top-folded card's bottom edge only, thus allowing the white lacy top/sides to extend beyond my card. This embossed stationery is sooo gorgeous on it's own that I felt it merely needed an elegant sentiment to complete it's transformation. With my sweet friend Lucy in mind, I chose JustRite's Friendship Nested Sentiments (now on sale for only $5) for the front and encased "Friends are a Gift" with Want2Scrap's lovely Fancy Tags Two Pearl Nestabling. My buttery yellow CS not only blends well with these fabulous teapots, but reminds me of her sunny yellow-painted kitchen and teapots.

Again, VersaMark ink, gold embossing powder and pearls finish off the card's interior with another sentiment from the same JustRite set that truly reflects my feelings, not only in celebration of her upcoming birthday, but every day.
Happy Birthday, sweet friend, and I hope you're reading this after we've properly celebrated your special day!  ;~)

JustRite Friday Challenge #072: 3D Project

My project for JustRite's 3D Challenge is a recycled plastic International Coffee container turned thank you gift holder. My sweet friend, Marilyn, saves these for me, as I only drink black coffee -- don't these just make the greatest little boxes?

I up-cycled some corrugated cardboard from my stash, peeling off one layer and brushing on Making Memories Manila scrapbook paint -- love the contrast/depth it adds! One cardboard piece was taped onto the body of the container and a top and bottom die cut with Spellbinders' Grand Labels Four.

To create a border around the bottom I first cut cream CS and lavender shimmer strips with Spellbinders' RicRac Edgeabilities die and then stamped a decorative JustRite stamp from With Sympathy beneath each point. Once my border was taped in place I attached a vertical strip to the back, then across the top to secure my lid. That strip is embellished with the same stamp and closes with a small magnet in front.

My circular Thank You sentiment from JustRite's Spring Words was stamped on a Labels Eighteen die and added to the lid, along with a rose created from Spellbinders' Spiral Blossoms One and Want2Scrap gem flourish that I colored lavender with Copic V17. Now it's all ready to fill with a little thank-you surprise.

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #085: Wedding/Anniversary

My Sheri Crafts latest challenge: create a wedding/anniversary card using black/white + a POP of color! I always enjoy working with a black/white + 1 color theme -- just sooo many possibilities. For our challenge I chose a black/white Damask Notepad paper by Teresa Collins and decided to let the quote, "Loved you yesterday, love you still; always have, always will" stand unobstructed, designing the rest of my card around it.
For my "pop" of red I cut my heart from Core'dinations' Glitter Silk CS and added a narrow edge detail with Papertrey Ink's Edgers #3 die. My JustRite sentiment was stamped in black and die cut with Spellbinders' Nested Pennants, then nestled inside the heart frame, along with a bitty heart gem I colored Lipstick Red with Copic R29. Want2Scrap's black gem swirl finishes it all off!
Here's YOUR challenge: concoct your very own wedding/anniversary card in black/white + a pop of color  and JOIN US @ My Sheri Crafts for this challenge, as we'd LOVE to see what you create using this fun theme!!!
Paper: Core'dinations Glitter Silk; Teresa Collins Damask Notepad CS; white CS
Stamps: JustRite's Wedding Nested Sentiments
Ink: PTI's True Black
Dies: Spellbinders' Nested Pennants; Provo Craft's Concentric Heart; PTI's Edgers #3
Bling: Want2Scrap; Amuse Twinkle Stickers

JustRite Friday Challenge #068: Color

I totally LOVE this JustRite Friday Challenge: to use black & white & a pop of color -- always a fabulous combo! A pop of color, such as with my Raspberry Fizz felt flower (Spellbinders' Spiral Blossom One), just seems to totally set off a black/white design!
For a bit of texture I used white letterpress paper to die cut my Spellbinders' Lattice Rectangle. Next I added Want2Scrap's Black/White Pearl Nestabling to the edges. My JustRite Loving Thoughts sentiment (Heart to Heart Set) is stamped inside a border from Hugs to You Set on vellum and heat embossed with black embossing powder. The vellum centerpiece is mounted onto a white Labels Eighteen die cut and another black hand-cut one. A few more pearls for my flower center and sentiment label and a beaded hat pin finish off this card. You have until 8 PM on Wednesday to add your project for this challenge if you'd like a chance at some lovely JustRite stamp sets!

JustRite Friday Challenge #67: Birthday Bash

The current challenge at JustRite Stampers is to create a Birthday card -- pretty simple, huh? I created a spring birthday card in pinks/greens using paper I've had in my stash for a long time!
I was thrilled to have the new JR Spring Words and With Sympathy clear stamps I won on the last challenge to help me create today. I just LOVE this sentiment and think it will work well for masculine birthdays also! I added a little decorative element from the Sympathy set below to compliment it and tie in my colors. Also LOVE Spellbinders' Edgeabilities and used those for my edging detail along with some decorative trim. Hand-colored crinkled seam binding and a pearl flourish complete this one.

Stamps:  JR's Spring Words and With Sympathy
Inks: VersaColor Opera Pink & Memento Pear Tart
Paper: Basic Grey's Sultry; PTI's White & Ripe Avocado CS
Embellishments: Want2Scrap Pearl/Flourish; Hobby Lobby trim; Hug Snug Winter White Seam Binding (colored with Copics)

Happy Birthday, Cupcake: Spellbinders/Nestabling Style

Needing a card for my cupcake-baking friend's birthday and needing to actually use my stash of Want2Scrap Nestabling, I chose this cupcake paper from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby).
Labels Five pink pearls by Nestabling really set off my focal Spellbinders' cupcake diecut image. I first cut/embossed the cuppie in Papertrey Ink's Kraft CS and distressed with Antique Linen distress ink for dimension. I used a metallic pink paper with embossed flowers for my "frosting", re-cutting the cuppie die and hand trimming along the bottom frosting edge. A single flower from that same paper sits atop and pink Cotton Candy Stickles dot the flower centers.
Fiskars' Upper Crust punch decorates the right edge and my focal image is pop-dotted over pink Making Memories ribbon. I stamped my PTI birthday greeting (curved to fit) onto a SBs' banner die to finish off this simple card.
LOVE how well the SBs dies, Nestabling and clear stamps all work so easily together to make a fun, blinged out greeting in quick fashion!
