My Sheri Crafts Challenge #098: Thanksgiving

A very fitting challenge this week @ My Sheri Crafts where our theme is Thanksgiving and we're asking you to create a card/project showing thanks!
I'm calling this my "vintage thanks" card since even though The Green Stack by DCWV that I used for this challenge was from 2008, I only recently spotted and purchased it, simply because the little animal characters therein are just too cute to resist -- LOL!!! This is one of my FAV papers from the stack and I decided to keep it simple, first merely stamping my 'thanks' sentiment from a 'vintage 2007' Stampendous set ("Mega Thanks") right onto the BG paper.  Next I stamped the letters on 3 different papers from the stack, fussy cutting them individually and pop dotting them in place over my stamped image. I added the 'many' stamp from the same set and 3 Dew Drops  (The Robin's Nest circa 2008) along the paper's border strip, roughed up my edges, then sponged a bit of Walnut Stain distress ink to all edges. Simple, fun and another thank you card to put in my ready to finish and mail stack -- YAY!!!

Why don't you post a thanks project to our My Sheri Crafts' challenge?!  We'd LOVE to see your ideas!!!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 2 by Dawn McVey

Well, you know the ole saying, "the best-laid plans of mice and men". . . so I missed the deadline, but had a blast making my little chocolate cuppy card anyway! My sweet friend, Gwen, kindly loaned me her Hero Arts Cupcake stamps. I've wanted these forever, so I had to play with them! Thanks, Gwen!!! I had hoped to create a male-appropriate cupcake card & thought these colors chosen by Dawn for her 2nd color challenge would achieve that goal nicely -- what do you think? If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you'll better see my embossed Birthday edge, which is a fabulous new card treat to use. Our card group met here last Saturday and this trick was shared by our talented friend Judy who sadly does not have a blog -- you'd really enjoy visiting it -- believe me!!! To see the cards our group made visit our group's blog!!! We're just beginning to post there!

With Sympathy II

My second version (first here) of CPS Sketch 104 again using With Sympathy, but a different flower and sentiment. The unique flower, butterfly and sentiment are all part of this extremely versatile PTI With Sympathy set, fast becoming a favorite of mine! As my clever friend Gwen so accurately pointed out this particular sentiment works well for "encouragement" too. We can always use a little of that in our lives! If you get a chance try out this sketch, it's a great one!!!

CPS 104 Card Sketch/PTI's With Sympathy Card

Finally got a chance today to play with my new goodies from PTI and to do a CPS sketch! I knew I was going to LOVE this set, even though it's designed for making sympathy cards. As the ingenious designers @ PTI have already demonstrated, it works so well for so many other creations too!!!
I used just part of the large vine stamp for my card here, along with a small flower and sentiment from this fabulous set. Making it even more awesome, there are two small add-on sets, one for the Loss of a Child and one for the Loss of a Pet for only $5 each!!! We all hope we'll never need the one for a child, but we know our furry friends don't share our usual longevity, so it's a great set to have on hand.

Floral Medallions Thank You

My creative mojo seems to have taken a holiday, so I'm trying to regain a hold on it with just a quick/easy thank you card for a neighbor for a Christmas gift. Simply ran the embossing folder through my Wizard, lightly sanded same, and added a bit of Stickles and Dew Drops. Stamped a scalloped floral medallion twice, cut out each medallion, stamped my phrase & attached both with pop dots. Short and sweet. Think I'm going to need a bit more creative fairy dust sprinkled my way very soon!

Blog Hop November, 2008

Welcome everyone! I decided to use a favorite fold of mine, a Spring card by Sandy Hulsart, found here. I used PTI's Stamper's Select White Cardstock and after folding my card, I covered the bottom & front with 2 different PTI Pink Patterns papers. Due to our unusually dark/cloudy weather, I was unable to get a decent photo, though not for lack of trying! ;~{ If you click on the photo, you can see the detail much better!!!
For my floral embellishment, I altered a felt flower from the $1 bin @ Joanns. After punching a center hole with my Crop-a-Dile, I added "veins" to it using six-strand DMC embroidery floss. For the flower center, I used sheer green ribbon, doubled it over & tied a knot at the fold. I pulled it through from the top of the flower, securing it on the back with a large pop dot. For my stem, I pulled the cotton from both ends of a Q-Tip and bent it slightly. I then wrapped the stem from top to bottom with the same sheer ribbon, securing at top & bottom with a small glue dot. I also folded a small piece & glue-dotted it to the stem for a leaf.

Distressed Scalloped Daisy Card

Sadly, I'm not one of those lucky people who sees a card design in their head and proceeds from there. Instead I start with an idea, a sketch or an embellishment I want to use and then things usually change many times before I'm finished. This card evolved from a sketch my friends Ilene & Deva had done. I'm not very talented at distressing, but I'm trying. . . .
Paper: Papertrey Ink's Text-style Pink Patterns
Ink: Papertrey's Spring Moss & Ranger's Antique Linen
Tools: Spellbinders' Wizard & Classic Scallop Circle Large Nesties & Daisy Delight Dies; sponge; sandpaper
Embellishments: The Robin's Nest Dew Drops; Fruit Punch Stickles; Joann's Craft Essentials Rub-On

Spring is Here card!

Here again is another of my current favorite simple cards which I shared yesterday with my stamp group! Just a 5 1/2" x 4/1/4" card with a 5" by 2 1/4" piece of DP. Punch out a portion of whatever corresponding shape fits your stamped image! (See my previous post under my Tutorials label to place the punch closer to punch edge.) I've made similar cards using round, oval scalloped and heart punches also. What could be simpler? Then embellish with whatever you've got handy to finish it off & you've got a simple/quick card ready to mail!
Paper: The Paper Company Mandarin Cardstock; DCWV DP
Stamp: Studio G $1 stamp from Michaels
Punch: Marvy Uchida 1 3/4" square
Embellishments: Dew Drops by The Robin's Nest; Fibers by Making Memories
