Maricopa is a community just south of Phoenix, AZ partially surrounded by raw desert and American Indian tribal land where wild horses still roam free and John Wayne worked his sprawling Red River Ranch and Cattle Company in bygone days. My husband photographed this horse sculpture near our subdivision’s entrance.
My daughter, Lindsay, needed a birthday card for her dear friend, Erin, and actually liked this one I'd made previously to share with my stamping group. She put this one together from my left-over kits and then proceeded to jazz up the envelope with some of the cut-outs left over from my Christmas tree Iris fold cards. She's a floral designer and she has her own unique style! I hope Erin likes her card & envelope -- I know Lindsay spent a great deal of time on the envelope!!!
This photo doesn't do this little card justice, but it's night, so if I'm more successful photographing it in the daylight, I'll swap it out tomorrow. Photography is still not my forte, that's for sure. Again, this was a card from an Iris Fold class that my friend, Ilene, and I took a couple of years back. Yesterday I hand drew the tree and tree base in my Wishblade and cut several out for her. I decided to re-create one with my own papers and stamp the DeNami Designs Holiday Cheer phrase beneath -- quite simple, which is sometimes best!
I really like the scalloped edge made with the Stampin' Up slit punch! This card was stamped with Stampin' Up's Baroque background and fleur de lis from the Carte Postale set. Once again I've used the Palette Stamp & Stick Gluepad and gold leafing. The double-sided white-core cardstock purchased from Costco has coordinating colors on each side.
This card was made in a class long ago when Lucy and I were across-the-street neighbors and spent many wonderful times at our neighborhood LSS, less than a mile away. Sadly, that wonderful little shop closed. (Sigh) -- we really miss the classes, make & takes and friendships we shared back then. Sometimes when I lack the necessary products to adequately duplicate a card made in class, I don't give it away. Occasionally it then gets tucked away and forgotten until accidentally re-discovered. That's the story here. Lucy saw it today and thought I should post it since it is seasonal, if not a recent creation. So here it is!
A busy week, getting ready for my niece from Omaha, NE, to visit this weekend. We're very excited to see her and spend time with other relatives living nearby. Had lunch with friends, Jon and Lucy, and she and I spent the afternoon making "boos" (the non-alcoholic kind). We hadn't papercrafted together in forever, but had so much fun that we've decided to "set a date" to craft together again soon. Her creation is on the left and mine on the right! Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, these were inspired by my sweet friend, Gwen (once again)! The pre-wired wooden boo w/ribbon is from Michaels Arts & Crafts & the papers by Making Memories and Heidi Grace.
A fall card using the Palette Stamp & Stick Gluepad by Stewart Superior Corp., http://www.stewartsuperior.com/, with gold leafing. I like that the leaf's center is very faint, just like so many fall leaves you find on the ground that are paper-thin in places. After 2 unsuccessful attempts with the gluepad, I re-read the directions on the gold leaf package, which stated that the stamped image needed to be completely dry, so the glue won't smear, and that it's "virtually impossible" to overheat the gluepad "ink". I tried again & heating longer was the key. I also pulled the edge of the rectangle along the gluepad & gold-leafed it. The Rubber Stampede leaf stamp is one I've had since 2001, background cardstock is from XpedX, biggie brad is by Karen Foster Design and letters are Making Memories.
Possibly my last two door hangers for this holiday??? I usually don't add ribbon on both the top & sides, but I felt the first one needed more orange color. Not as happy with it as I'd hoped to be. Still looking to improve it before I give it to the intended recipient. My friend, Ilene, accidentally left her buttons here on Friday. She'd said I could use some, so the idea hit me to put her shank buttons on the ribbon as slides. These both use the same paper and embellishments as my previous ones. Hope the recipients enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!
A simple little five-inch square card made from cards I received as a gift quite a while ago. I tend to hoard my supplies; I have no idea why. Some of the paper I loved when I purchased it is now out-of-style. This simple card uses the Heidi Grace Designs flowers and American Crafts rub-on letters in brown. I love being able to find rub-ons in colors other than black! Now if I could just find a dark brown gel ink pen to sign my brown cards with, I'd be a happy camper!!! |

After attending a CTMH
My crafty friends & I took a class at our friend, Deva's, house last Saturday taught by a talented lady, Susan Mast, http://www.masterscrapbookdesigns.com/. We made these darling little purse mini scrapbooks. Very feminine, totally girly, wonderfully useful! When opened, the purse spills out to reveal six pages for your photos or journaling. I plan to send mine to a dear friend with included photos of us, once I get the photos tweaked and cropped. What girlfriend wouldn't want one of these?!!! They're perfect for "girls" of any age from pre-tweens to great-grandmothers!!! Really fun, quite easy to make and a blast to embellish! I'll embellish the inside with more flowers, beads, buttons, ribbon, once I've decided on the photos. I'm totally new to scrapbooking, so this is a small start to what I know will be an exciting new adventure. I'm looking forward to scrapping my own grandchildren's pix one day!
My friend, Gwen, who encouraged me to start this blog, shared this awesome idea with our stamping group recently. I'm really enjoying making these for family/friends. Thanks, Gwen! I apologize for my lack of photography skills, but I recently purchased my very first camera, so have a lot to learn.
