Papertrey Ink July 2011 Blog Hop: Inspirational Photo Challenge

Hooray -- it's time for Papertrey Ink's July Blog Hop! Needing a masculine birthday card, I felt these inspiration colors would be perfect! Taking inspiration from the blinds on the window, I die cut Mat Stack 1 from balsa wood. With Dark Chocolate ink, I simply picked the ink up on a stiff-bristled brush and "dry brushed" it onto my die to better simulate the blinds. I then die cut Spellbinders Labels Eleven from Orange Zest CS, embossed lines with a Cuttlebug folder (based on the slats in the blinds and the stripes on one pillow).
All papers, stamps, inks and Mat Stack Die are PTI!

I'm so excited to see what everyone else created!

I love this card! Love the way you put the colors together, with that big gorgeous focal panel. The twine on the side is so perfect, along with the fantastic textures, visual and tangible. Great! ;-)

Marge, the balsa wood is a wonderful idea! (I'm going to have to file that away, LOL!) I love your attention to detail with not just the colors, but textures too--well done! And I really love the twine with the knot in the middle--it's subtle yet really stands out and is so dimensional!
