My Sheri Crafts Challenge #74: Decorate for Christmas

For My Sheri Crafts this week, I adapted this Splitcoaststampers gift box for use as a decor item using battery-operated tea lights. I love that you can create these with a few simple inexpensive items: coasters (large ones from the clearance aisle at my local grocery store and small ones saved from restaurant visits), CS or DP, ribbon/embroidery floss/cord and a battery-operated tea light ($1.13 ea. @ Walgreens). I've even seen them since I bought mine in 25-packs. They look so pretty with the tea lights flickering inside them, just like a real lit candle would -- minus the fire danger!
Both boxes were created following Taylor's instructions at the SCS link above, except that I die cut one coaster for each using Spellbinders' 2011 Heirloom Ornaments dies. On Vellum I stamped Heartfelt Creations (#HCPC 3417) Poinsettia Ornament 2 stamps with VersaMark, embossed with gold EP and sandwiched the vellum between my CS/DP on the front of my box.
FYI: My large coasters measure 4 5/16" square and are large enough for the largest ornament/stamp, whereas a smaller coaster may not allow enough space to punch holes along each side for lacing.

Hope you'll stop by to see all the Christmas ideas our DT has created for your inspiration  -- even better -- join us at My Sheri Crafts by posting your own Christmas decor creations for all our readers to enjoy!

Marge, These are just wonderful! I did not realize they were mde from coasters! What a great idea. Now I have got to start collecting coasters. I just think these would be great to make and have my children at school do the alcng on them and give as gifts to their parents. I already have written this down in my idea book with a reference back to you and this post. These are just beautiful!!

Marge, this is a great idea. I just happen to have some lonely coasters looking for a new home. I do believe my co-workers may have a little extra something in their stockings.

Hugs,
Miss Sue
