JustRite's Friday Challenge #073: Anything But Square

Summertime is my time to catch up, since we're usually inside avoiding the desert heat, so I'm hoping to create/post more. One thing that I've wanted to do for a long while is the creation I'm sharing today and posting for JustRite's current challenge -- "Anything But Square". As you can see by my photo below, this card started out as elegant, lacy embossed-edge teapot stationery with matching envelope given to me by our dear friend/former neighbor, whom I'm hoping doesn't see this before I'm able to give her her card in person. Regardless, hope she likes my effort.
I cut her beautiful stationery sheet in half using Spellbinders' Grand Labels Four, as well as my Vintage Cream top-folded card's bottom edge only, thus allowing the white lacy top/sides to extend beyond my card. This embossed stationery is sooo gorgeous on it's own that I felt it merely needed an elegant sentiment to complete it's transformation. With my sweet friend Lucy in mind, I chose JustRite's Friendship Nested Sentiments (now on sale for only $5) for the front and encased "Friends are a Gift" with Want2Scrap's lovely Fancy Tags Two Pearl Nestabling. My buttery yellow CS not only blends well with these fabulous teapots, but reminds me of her sunny yellow-painted kitchen and teapots.

Again, VersaMark ink, gold embossing powder and pearls finish off the card's interior with another sentiment from the same JustRite set that truly reflects my feelings, not only in celebration of her upcoming birthday, but every day.
Happy Birthday, sweet friend, and I hope you're reading this after we've properly celebrated your special day!  ;~)

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #086: Summer Lovin' Theme

The surfboards on this My Sheri Crafts Summer Lovin' challenge card are actually a magnet that my friend Ilene and I found long ago in a clearance bin at Michaels. Our thought then was they'd make great focal points for cards, so I've finally done just that -- what do you think?

I really had fun with this challenge, creating my waves with a Fiskars texture plate, layering on real 'craft' sand from my stash and making my 'Surf's Up!' sign using my latest fun purchase -- Washi tape! My preferred creative style is more classy/elegant, but it's really fun to just play around sometimes and see what you can come up with. It's summer, so have FUN with your paper crafting -- besides, here in the desert SW it's already been 110, so dreaming of cooler activities/places is the 'norm' for now!

Everyone @ My Sheri Crafts hopes you'll create a Summer Lovin' project and share it with us by June 8th -- maybe you'll be our next Guest Designer?!

JustRite Friday Challenge #073: Anything But Square

Having recently received lots of gorgeous shimmer paper from a dear friend from MN and having recently purchased JustRite's Christmas Mini Sentiments, I was anxious to make a Christmas card on this toasty 111-degree day here in the desert!
I love the shape of Spellbinder's Heirloom Ornament cut from this gorgeous cream and gold glittery paper and thin chipboard, and especially paired with Spellbinder's Labels Four, so JustRite's Friday Challenge was
perfect. I've mounted my ornament on a Grand Labels Four shaped card cut from cream CS and pop dotted atop a layer of red shimmer paper. My ornament is trimmed with Tim Holtz Washi tape, holly leaves cut from a retired Spellbinders' die, accented with glitter from Sakura's Gelly Roll pen and Copic colored holly berry gems (which really match IRL but my shimmery paper and photo lights make them look a bit off).
My "From Our Family" mini sentiment was die cut using JustRite's JB-08950 Nested Frames Dies to which I then added the decorative edges only from a Spellbinders' Fancy Tag. I'm just smitten with these mini sentiments which let the rest of my card take center stage! I just looked at JustRite's Super Sale and they're are sold out, but if you hurry you can still get their Halloween Mini Sentiments here before they're gone -- you won't be sorry!

JustRite Friday Challenge #072: 3D Project

My project for JustRite's 3D Challenge is a recycled plastic International Coffee container turned thank you gift holder. My sweet friend, Marilyn, saves these for me, as I only drink black coffee -- don't these just make the greatest little boxes?

I up-cycled some corrugated cardboard from my stash, peeling off one layer and brushing on Making Memories Manila scrapbook paint -- love the contrast/depth it adds! One cardboard piece was taped onto the body of the container and a top and bottom die cut with Spellbinders' Grand Labels Four.

To create a border around the bottom I first cut cream CS and lavender shimmer strips with Spellbinders' RicRac Edgeabilities die and then stamped a decorative JustRite stamp from With Sympathy beneath each point. Once my border was taped in place I attached a vertical strip to the back, then across the top to secure my lid. That strip is embellished with the same stamp and closes with a small magnet in front.

My circular Thank You sentiment from JustRite's Spring Words was stamped on a Labels Eighteen die and added to the lid, along with a rose created from Spellbinders' Spiral Blossoms One and Want2Scrap gem flourish that I colored lavender with Copic V17. Now it's all ready to fill with a little thank-you surprise.

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #085: Wedding/Anniversary

My Sheri Crafts latest challenge: create a wedding/anniversary card using black/white + a POP of color! I always enjoy working with a black/white + 1 color theme -- just sooo many possibilities. For our challenge I chose a black/white Damask Notepad paper by Teresa Collins and decided to let the quote, "Loved you yesterday, love you still; always have, always will" stand unobstructed, designing the rest of my card around it.
For my "pop" of red I cut my heart from Core'dinations' Glitter Silk CS and added a narrow edge detail with Papertrey Ink's Edgers #3 die. My JustRite sentiment was stamped in black and die cut with Spellbinders' Nested Pennants, then nestled inside the heart frame, along with a bitty heart gem I colored Lipstick Red with Copic R29. Want2Scrap's black gem swirl finishes it all off!
Here's YOUR challenge: concoct your very own wedding/anniversary card in black/white + a pop of color  and JOIN US @ My Sheri Crafts for this challenge, as we'd LOVE to see what you create using this fun theme!!!
Paper: Core'dinations Glitter Silk; Teresa Collins Damask Notepad CS; white CS
Stamps: JustRite's Wedding Nested Sentiments
Ink: PTI's True Black

JustRite Friday Challenge #071: Pretty Pastels

Woo-Hoo!!! Time for JustRite's Friday Challenge #071: Pretty Pastels -- see inspiration photo and challenge details here. For my card I began with a half-fold card in black CS, then layered on Spellbinders' die cuts from Labels Eleven in yellow and white CS, followed by Floral Ovals in black.
For my focal piece I stamped  JustRite JB-09700 Plant a Little Love Borders & Center (currently on sale for only $10.00) in Memento's Tuxedo Black (available here). My flowers are colored using Copic Markers (available here). The focal image is framed in yellow CS stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed using the medallion from JustRite With Sympathy clear stamp set which was die cut with JustRite Custom Die Templates JB-10025 Nested Oval Medallion Label Dies. I repeated that same same stamped/embossed medallion on my yellow Labels Eleven layer.
My sentiment (from JustRite's Spring Words clear stamp set) is stamped on Spellbinders' Ribbon Tags Trio Three (available here) and threaded with frilly elastic velvet ribbon.
Thanks so much for stopping by today to see my JustRite Challenge entry -- JustRite offers fabulous prizes in their bi-monthly challenges! A new challenge begins this Friday, so check 'em out!!!
