Maricopa is a community just south of Phoenix, AZ partially surrounded by raw desert and American Indian tribal land where wild horses still roam free and John Wayne worked his sprawling Red River Ranch and Cattle Company in bygone days. My husband photographed this horse sculpture near our subdivision’s entrance.

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop: Favorite 2011 Project Challenge
Picking my favorite 2011 Papertrey Ink project wasn't at all difficult, probably because I adore the Half & Half stamp set, and also love the fabulous fonts from Botanical Silhouettes!
I've followed basically the same LO for today's Blog Hop, but created a totally different look with Turning a New Leaf DP for my BG and also using the Half & Half die for my sentiment (Inside & Out: Birthday). Perhaps this might work for a 'guy' card?
My focal bird on a branch image (Iconic Images) is fussy cut and Ripe Avocado edging repeats underneath, as well as along the right edge (Edgers #3), which I think helps balance the design.
My only non-PTI products are the green hemp cord from my stash and Antique Linen Distress Ink. Thanks for stopping by & enjoy the Blog Hop; I KNOW I will!!!

Both are beautiful cards. I love your use of the half and half dies.
Both cards are beautiful, but the second one really ROCKS! That patterned paper looks absolutely perfect with that bird- I'm in love!
Love both of your cards. I love the bright colors on the first, and the subdued colors on the second - they're both perfect. Fabulous fussy cutting on that bird! I could definitely see using the second for a guy card. I think it could go either way, which is a great accomplishment, in my opinion! ;-)
These are both lovely, but I REALLY like the warm earthiness of your second card!
Both are great but I really love the paper on the newer card - really adds something to the overall feel of the card.
I love both of these gorgeous cards and as I have yet to use my Half and Half sets, I might be back to case!
Both are so lovely! I really love the half and half as well. Well done.
Your second card is wonderful. the fussy cutting on the bird image is amazing. Great combination of colours and patterns.
both cards are wonderful and they have a great layout.. but the second one really catches my eye - I am always on the lookout for possible masculine cards - and the colors, the images everything would lend itself perfectly for this. Its so warm and inviting. Might have to pin it! :-) thanks for sharing!
Love them both but the bird looks so elegant on that DSP :-)
Very pretty cards! Love the second one using the pattern paper behind the focal point. Lovely.
They are both great. Love how you made a masculine version.
This is indeed an awesome layout. The original card was gorgeous, and the new one is even better! Love the color schemes on both.
I really like both cards - for different reasons. Interesting to see how the layout can look so different -
