Christmas Tree Card: QuicKutz Style

QuicKutz Nesting Trees

Just a quick little Christmas card created using QuicKutz Nesting Trees (available at Creating Everlasting Memories #DC0016). I cut my tree's 5 suede paper layers, cutting die  #1 (smallest) through #5, securing each layer with foam dots for dimension, topping with a red star, adding a simple sentiment and red/green ribbon from my stash to finish it off -- quick, easy, merry and bright, just what I need right now!  ;-)
Paper: Papertrey Ink DP; White CS & Green Suede
Ink: Memento's Lady Bug
Stamps: PTI's 2009 Holiday Tag Collection
Embellishments: Star & ribbon from stash
Tools: QuicKutz Nesting Trees die; SU's Word Window punch

Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge #25 and My Sheri Crafts Challenge #33 (Hello): WMS Style!

WMS Stamp Set: Oven Fresh Gingerbread Joy
Sadly, I only own this one Waltzing Mouse stamp set (so far), but I've been a big fan of Claire's since before she began her fabulous stamp company.
Claire's weekly challenge is here. Being that Christmas is nigh, I just had to paper piece this cute little Gingerbread Girl from one of Clarie's first two sets, Oven Fresh Gingerbread Joy -- isn't she just adorable?! I got a bit carried away with the pinks and flip-flopped the sketch, but I still love how this turned out! Nice when that happens along the creative route, isn't it?
I've had fun playing at My Sheri Crafts challenges fairly often and when I saw her theme this week was "Hello", I thought this would be a fun fit with my Ginger Girl. Go check out her fun weekly challenges!
Thank you so much for stopping by to visit today and I hope you enjoy what you see!

Paper: Papertrey Ink's Raspberry Fizz, Kraft, White CS and Dotty Biscotti DP; Fancy Pants DP
Stamps: WMS Oven Fresh Gingerbread Joy and JustRite's Times New Roman 15-pt. Font
Ink: VersaColor's Opera Pink; Memento's Rich Cocoa; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink
Embellishments: Rick-Racks and baby buttons from stash
Tools: Spellbinders' Wizard and Inverted Squares and Heart dies

Snowflake Tag Christmas Card: QuicKutz Style

I just love this shiny red snowflake cut with QuicKutz Sparkles die and the light blue ZVA Creative pearl center that echoes the colors in the QuicKutz Nesting Tag. Wanting to keep the rest of the card simple, I merely embossed the white BG paper with Provo Craft's Swiss Dots embossing folder. My tag slips in/out of the QuicKutz photo corner so that upon receipt it can be personalized on the back before attaching to a box or gift bag.
You can find the QuicKutz dies used here (Sparkles, Nesting Tag, Photo Corners) and lots of gorgeous colors of ZVA Creative Pearls at Creating Everlasting Memories.
Be sure to check out CEM's bargains from Black Friday running through 11:59 PM on December 3rd!!!

Birthday Greetings: JustRite Style

Paper: K & Company's "Margo" DP; PTI's Vintage Cream CS
Stamp: JustRite's Baroque Nested Frames & Occasions
Ink: Memento's Rich Cocoa; Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink
Embellishments: Lace (Hobby Lobby); PTI's Silk Ribbon; Kaiser Pearls
Tools: Spellbinders' Wizard; Nested Heart Dies

Among my many family/friend Dec./Jan. birthdays are a few ladies, so I've managed to get another card done using some of my favorite K & Company papers (again). These Nested Hearts are another fav of mine and I doubt I'll tire of them soon!
I've used JustRite's Baroque Nested Frames & Occasions' Happy Birthday stamp on my heart in Memento's Rich Cocoa ink. I took my cream lace and "antiqued" it with Copic YG03 & 0 Colorless Blender, another fav thing to do with my Copic markers, topping the lace edging off with a narrow silk ribbon & bow. Hope my recipient likes her card!

JustRite Friday Challenge 045: Celebrate Good Times

This week's JustRite Friday Challenge is sponsored by Flower Soft, and we're celebrating good times. Because I have several upcoming birthdays, I chose Just a Note's 1 5/8" Happy Birthday sentiment and DCWV's La Creme flocked CS in black and creme. It's one of my favorites for creating classy and elegant cards.
I cut my bottom border scallop using a retired Pierceabilities die from Spellbinders. My three sentiment layers are die cut using Spellbinders' Standard Circle and Oval and Ribbon Tags Trio Two. After accenting the letters 'H' and 'B' and the raised dots on my ribbon tag with flocking, I laced my sheer/velvet elastic ribbon through my tag!
One upcoming celebration card done, several to go!   ;'~)

Papertrey Ink November 2010 Blog Hop: Holiday Tags

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the USA and greetings to everyone in other lands!
For Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop, I chose red, gold and cream to create my 2010 Christmas Tags. I love gold this time of year and have included it here in the forms of some favorite gold paper from years ago, with the Peace, Love, Joy stamp from 2009 Holiday Tag Collection stamped in VersaMark and embossed with gold EP.
It is pop dotted over my Mat Stack 1 die cut from Vintage Cream CS and gold embossed with the swirly BG stamp from Round & Round. This is finally pop dotted to a Pure Poppy CS tag die cut with the Tag Sale #1 die for my simple tag.

Fun Gatefold Christmas Card; QuicKutz Style

Created this fun gate fold Christmas card and tag from papers in my stash, ZVA Creative Pearls and QuicKutz dies (Nesting Diamonds and Nesting Stocking dies and pearls available at Creating Everlasting Memories).
Slip the ribbon off the front and inside is a stocking tag that can be removed and tied to a package or hung on a Christmas tree. I die cut a stocking in white CS and added to the back of the tag, so the recipient can add a  message.

Sympathy Card: PTI CAS Style

I needed a quick, simple/easy-to-mail sympathy card today and turned to Papertrey Ink's "With Sympathy" set because it's so classy and has such perfect sentiments. Not being in a frame of mind to create an original work of art, I did what I often do: I took the easy way out and chose to "CASE" Debbie Olson's gorgeous card here. Why mess with perfection?
I changed the sentiment and positioned my pearls to better fit with it. I used cream wrinkled seam binding for my ribbon and "antiqued" just the edges with PTI's Chamomile ink, to tie in with my sentiment frame. I LOVE this ribbon and know that even after mailing, it will still look lovely!
Paper: PTI's Vintage Cream and black CS from stash
Stamps: PTI's With Sympathy
Ink: PTI's True Black and Chamomile; VersaMark
Embellishments: Queen & Co. Black Pearls; wrinkled seam binding from stash
Tools: Embossing Gun; Spellbinders' Wizard & Classic Ovals (S4-112) #4 die; WeRMemoryKeepers Corner Rounder

Christmas Stocking Cards: QuicKutz Style

The largest die from this 4-piece QuicKutz Nesting Stocking available at Creating Memories in Time is sooo fun to play with! You can create stocking cards for boys/girls, teens and adults in any style that opens at the top and will fit into a #A9 envelope or #A10 envelope. You could add a child's name across the top in stickers, alpha stamps or use your own handwriting -- my head is just reeling with possibilities! What young girl/teen wouldn't love a furry-topped stocking card or how about some added tulle in her favorite color for your little ballerina? For boys/men a stocking in camouflage paper? Just from my stash of "winter" papers, I quickly came up with one for a skier and a classy/elegant/sparkly stocking with scalloped felt (cut with QK's "Journaling Block" set), gold Stickles and gold braid trim.

This stocking die actually measures nearly 8" from top to bottom and I happen to have some long, narrow CS over 16" -- however, you can still create one with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper, as illustrated in my photos. I simply cut my paper to 4 1/2" x 9 1/2", folded it at 1 1/2" and placed the fold just below the top of the die, beneath the cut line to create my stocking card front. (Note: If your die-cut machine and mat aren't quite long enough, simply run your die through a 2nd time to cut the toe.) Then cut a single layer stocking from CS and glue the folded edge from your 1st piece to the back of this piece.

To create my toes/heels, I merely punched a circle from a 1 3/4" inch punch and then die cut the circle where desired to finish my stockings. For the skiers' stocking, I stitched the top/heel/toe first on my sewing machine before gluing in place.Hope this inspires you to try some stocking cards for those on your Christmas list! If you do, I'd love to see a photo, so leave me a comment and link so I can see your creations and HAVE FUN!!!

Marge's Monday Card Corner (November, 2010)

I'm so thrilled to have you stop by for my first individual post for Creating Memories in Time. I'll be hosting my Monday Card Corner the 3rd Monday of each month, my little "corner" of the CMIT Blog where I'll share a sketch and card. Each Design Team member will have a separate and unique spot monthly here on our blog, so don't miss any of these exciting upcoming posts! A sketch to me is just a "jumping-off point" for inspiration and can be followed exactly or you can simply be inspired to go off in any direction with the sketch, flipping it/turning it/making it "your own" -- just having fun and being creative!
Sketch
All supplies used are available at Creating Everlasting Memories EBay Store, except solid CS and stamp. Finished card size is 5"x7". For my snowy BG, I used My Mind's Eye "Signature Christmas", distressing the edges with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink and creating my main focal image using 6 of the 8 dies from QuicKutz Nesting Trees (#DC0016). These dies cut/emboss beautifully and are so fun to play with! I chose 3 complimentary blue-green CS colors, cutting/embossing dies 1-6 (1 being smallest) as follows, beginning with the darkest color: 6 and 3; medium: 5 and 2; light: 4 and 1, as shown below.
My Die Cuts
ZVA Creative Self-Adhesive Pearls (#PE-02CB-110) in soft blue were adhered to my tree layers, gently curving them as I pressed them down and adding a large pearl to the tree top. Next, I assembled the layers by lining up the tree tops, using small foam dots near the bottom of layers for dimension. I ran a long basting stitch through the center of May Arts (C-1-04) "Sheer" 1" Teal Ribbon and ruffled it, adding it to the left side of my card, along with my sentiment and a gorgeous Tim Holtz (TH92873) Idea-ology "Fanciful Button" with small pearl added to it's center. Hope you find some inspiration and create a card after seeing mine today. If you do, leave me a comment/link so I can see yours and thanks so much for stopping by today!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge 30: Veterans/Troops

A bit of red/white/blue, stars and stripes and it's  done. Happy Veterans Day and Thank You ALL for your service to the United States of America!!! God Bless America and keep us forever free!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge 043: Show Your Support

I chose to use "Thinking of You" for the JustRite challenge to "show support" this week and designer papers in my favorite color. I really love the versatility of JustRite stamps, this sentiment in particular, and that it fits perfectly in the middle-sized Spellbinders' Nested Hearts die. I embossed that same die on DP, hand cut along the outside edge and placed it behind my stamped heart for added color/accent. A bit of lace, some leaf ribbon and a paper rose finishes off my card -- hope you like it as much as I do!!!
Paper: K & Company's "Margo" DP; Cosmo Cricket's "Material Girl"; PTI's Vintage Cream CS
Stamp: JustRite's Just a Note Borders & Centers
Ink: Memento's Pear Tart
Embellishments: Lace (Hobby Lobby); Leaf Ribbon (enhanced with Copic YG 03) and  Paper Rose

JustRite Friday Challenge 042: Sketch, Sponsored by Inchie Arts

I've never tried Inchies, but think it would be a FUN experience! I simply cut my CS to the size of a "twinchie" (2 inches) to stamp my ice-skating penguin from JustRite's Whimsical Christmas set. For added pop, I embossed my twinchie with my Spellbinders' classic square die, colored him with Copic markers and airbrushed the ice and sky BG. A dot of Stickles on the snowflakes & he was ready to mount on my Lacey Squares cut from silver craft foil. I then added a foil snowflake and ice blue gem brad to finish off my penguin card. He sure does seem to be having a great time out there on the ice, doesn't he?
Paper: Papertrey Ink's Ocean Tides CS; DCWV plaid; Making Memories snowflake paper
Stamp: JustRite's 2" Whimsical Christmas Borders & Centers
Ink: Memento's Tuxedo Black
Embellishments: Crystal Stickles; gem brad from stash
Tools: Spellbinders' Wizard and Lacey Squares & Snowflake dies; Copic Markers
