Maricopa is a community just south of Phoenix, AZ partially surrounded by raw desert and American Indian tribal land where wild horses still roam free and John Wayne worked his sprawling Red River Ranch and Cattle Company in bygone days. My husband photographed this horse sculpture near our subdivision’s entrance.

JustRite Friday Challenge 033: Sketch
I chose Memento Cottage Ivy Ink and JustRite's Applique set for my green and white Christmas card. I stamped my 3 Applique designs, cut them out using Spellbinders' Labels Three and popped them up with foam tape on the decorative center square from Spellbinders' Lattice Pendant, flipping the center design for visual interest. I also added one of the little left-over cut-outs & pearl to each Applique center. My 'Deck the Halls' sentiment was created with JustRite's Times New Roman 15-pt. font. Hope you have a great day and I'm so glad you stopped by!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #19: Missing You
Sheri's challenge this week: create a 'Missing You' project. I chose "It's Been Too Long" from Everyday Button Bits stamp set, adding a little swirly image from Vintage Labels above and below my sentiment and tiny Kaiser Craft chocolate pearls. Stamps are all from Papertrey Ink.
I just LOVE this paisley print in russet browns, peony pinks and spring greens from Basic Grey's Sultry paper pad. My sentiment frame is die cut with Spellbinders' Ribbon Tags Trio Two. For accent I then embossed the die again and hand cut the outermost edge before lacing my sheer brown ribbon through both. I cut a strip of pale pink paper from the pad, misted it with water and embossed it with Spellbinders' Paisley Impressabilities. My paisley print & brown papers were then both edge punched with Fiskars' Upper Crest punch.
Have a great day and I sincerely appreciate your taking time to come here!

Aspiring to Creativity Glimmer Challenge 2: Photo Inspiration
For our 2nd Aspiring to Creativity challenge we were given a sweet photo for inspiration, plus were required to use a tool or supply we'd never used before. I used the "dots" repeatedly in my card, including both Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots and their new Polka Dots embossing folders, as well as the holes I punched along the edge of my Cuttlebug die-cut butterfly. More holes appear along the Scallop 3-dot border and in my lace tag, both from Martha Stewart. Papers used are Core'dinations' Color Core and PTI's SS White, along with PTI's Raspberry Fizz felt for my butterfly and Making Memories ribbon. My never-before used supply are the 3 Green Glitter brads by Creative Imaginations that have been in my stash for over 2 years now! This was a fun challenge; thanks for stopping by my little blog for a visit today!

JustRite Friday Challenge 032: Colors of Fall
For this week's JustRite challenge I chose to Copic color the poppy from Plant a Little Love, stamping it several times, then cutting & layering it. The main image is surrounded by the full border from this set, plus I decided to try something "not for the faint of heart" -- I cut one of the little swirly leaf images from the border to use in the scallops of my Spellbinders' Big Scalloped Circles LG. Proceed at your own risk, but I do like the bonus of being able to use that little swirly leaf singly now. For accent I Copic colored several clear gems orange -- one of my FAV uses for Copics (now for sale @ JustRite). Originally I planned to do a bow at the edge, but instead ended up wrapping three swirly shapes from Spellbinders' Doodle Parts along my ribbon edge, as they just seemed to tie in so well.
Thanks for visiting here today. It was 116.8 degrees in Maricopa this afternoon and just after I posted this our AC quit -- may be a warm night -- YIKES!

Happy Birthday, Mom
My MIL's birthday is coming up and I decided I'd CASE one of Yvonne's cards that she designed as Spellbinders' First International Guest Blogger. I chose to use shades of pink for my card and JustRite's wild rose stamp from their Plant a Little Love set as my centerpiece. Stamped on PTI's Vintage Cream CS, I colored the flowers with Copics: RV02, RV14, RV19, G07, G24 and BG000. I needed the larger Octagon die for this flower to fit, so then just hand cut the same die, leaving a narrow pink border mat. The Doodle Parts swirls are a bit hard to wrap around the frame while also laying over/under each other and gluing down. Think if I make another like this, I'll attach those with a small glue dot on the back of the frame -- learning by doing is always the best way to learn! Also, after re-reading Yvonne's directions, I see that she actually used foam tape to pop the swirls up, which would have alleviated the difficulty I had trying to attach them with flat glue dots, but still think it's a gorgeous card that my MIL will like.

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #18: Kitchen
For my fun "What's Cooking?" card for this week's My Sheri Crafts challenge I've paper pieced and Copic colored my apron digi image from DZ Doodles, and popped it up with foam tape. For the apron, ric-rac trims and BG I used various Cosmo Cricket papers from Garden Variety, Material Girl and Early Bird, my FAVs. The sentiment bubble was cut from Early Bird's label sheet and I stamped my sentiment using JustRite's 25-pt. Times New Roman font & then added veggies cut from Garden Variety. My CS is Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream and I die cut the ric-rac trims with PTI's ric-rac die -- LOVE it! The little square buttons are from Making Memories and are tied with embroidery floss, since Baker's Twine was impossible to find! Think that's it for this one -- thanks so much for stopping by for a peek today!

JustRite Friday Challenge 031: Back to School and My Sheri Crafts Challenge #17
I recently came across this idea on SCS where they used salt/pepper shakers from the $1 store to make pretty, but inexpensive decorative gifts. I decorated mine to celebrate "life long learning" using my JRS Just a Note Borders & Centers and 15-pt. TNR stamp sets. Blue Bazzill Bling paper, Encore Ultimate Metallic Blue Ink embossed with clear EP, Spellbinders' Stars dies and lots of sparkly stars and silver/glittery ribbon swirls finish off my gift and matching card.
Edited to Add: I always link to challenges to make it easy for you & I forgot to do that. They are: My Sheri Crafts and JustRite Inspiration, so now you can go check both of them out!!!

JustRite Friday Challenge 030: Inspiration Photo
A photo inspired our 30th challenge for JustRite this week and for me it was the gorgeous reds/pinks/greens that caught my attention. Needing a few thank-you cards, I decided to make a "sentiment slider" note card using my JustRite 15-pt. Times New Roman alphabet to create my slider (shown in action in photos below). I then popped my center flower up on thick foam tape so that my sentiment tab will easily slide left & right to easily read all three sentiments stamped on it.
Paper: PTI's Vintage Cream CS; K&Company's Margo & McKenna Paper Pads
Stamps: JRS 15-pt. Times New Roman Alphabet
Ink: PTI's Ripe Avocado
Embellishments: Michael's Ribbon; Creative Imaginations' brad
Tools: Making Memories Slot Punch; Spellbinders Wizard & Inverted Circle Die; PTI's Beautiful Blooms II die

Doily Card for Joan's Garden #9 Challenge
My entry for Joan's challenge, which is to make a pink and white card and be sure you have 4 corners punched (preferably with a Martha Stewart punch) also contains a doily. The pink & white flower center includes felt and a sheer flower die cut from a piece of plastic I saved long ago. I also added Martha Stewart's pink ribbon edged in white. It was really hard for me not to add black, but I still like the outcome. Thanks, Colleen, for urging me to get out of my creative slump & Gwen for forwarding the creative fairy dust from over 3o miles away! Always great to have your friends' help!
Paper: Making Memories' Sabrina Multipack; PTI's Shimmer CS
Embellishments: Making Memories' Sabrina flower brads; Hero Arts' gemstones; PTI's Felt; Martha Stewart's '07 Easter Ribbon; Michaels' Doilies
Tools: Martha Stewart's Eyelet Lace Punch; PTI's Beautiful Blooms II Dies; Spellbinders' Wizard

Be Inspired #95 With Heartfelt Sympathy
I hadn't participated in a Cuttlebug Challenge in a long time, so decided I'd do a simple card for their Heartfelt Sympathy challenge this week. It's always a good idea to have a couple of these cards on hand. I wanted to keep it fairly simple, so chose to use my Provo Craft Textile embossing folder for the BG. I then simply added a couple of decorative stamps and pearls to my sentiment tag and secured it with a decorative braid I've had in my stash for forever.
Paper: Bazzill CS; SEI's Morning Meadow DP
Stamps: PTI's Round & Round (sentiment) and Vintage Labels
Ink: PTI's Dark Chocolate Palette
Embellishments: Kaiser Craft Chocolate pearls; Braid from stash
Tools: Spellbinders Wizard & Ribbon Tags Trio Two

JustRite Friday Challenge 029: Sketch
For this week's JustRite Friday challenge I used Core'dinations' Black Magic and Papertrey Ink's Hibiscus Burst cardstock. Using the largest Spellbinders' die from Fair Isle Pendants, I framed my JR Appliqué Decorative Border and sentiment from Just a Note Borders & Centers. Next I cut the border from Fair Isle, sanded both die cuts and accented them & my framed sentiment with Fruit Punch and Black Diamond Stickles. The BG is embossed with Provo Craft's new Polka Dots embossing folder on Papertrey Ink's Hibiscus Burst CS. Finishing this all off, I backed the dies with black satin ribbon and added a large bow. Once again today, I had to fight long and hard to find my creativity, so I appreciate your popping in!

Friendship Card
I wanted to create a friend card for My Sheri Crafts' challenge this week, so decided to use my GCD Studios' Margarita collection papers & tags. I stamped Papertrey Ink's "Friends 'Til the End" sentiment on the die-cut orange tag. I then took Spellbinders' Long Scalloped Rectangles and chose the die just wider than my tag. Because I wanted it to use it to back my tag, I first cut it just short of the tag length, then ran it back through my Wizard & cut the bottom edge of my white CS so that I had just the length needed. I added two flowers cut from a sheet of matching GCD paper, added the Making Memories' blue gemstone brads and pop-dotted them onto my tag for to give my card depth. A layer of purple paper and a soft white silk narrow Papertrey ribbon finishes my Friend card off!
